The rapid growth of the internet and other modern technological advancements has led to an explosion in both the quantity and velocity of data produced in the modern world. Organizations have faced a significant problem in the past few decades regarding keeping and making the most of this data. Both data and oil are valuable in their raw forms, but they gain value when thoroughly and correctly collected, analyzed, and relevant information is extracted from them. British mathematician Clive Humby famously said in 2006 that "Data is the new oil" about the abundance of both commodities. Organizations and other devices can use this data for better and smarter decision-making through improved performance, greater knowledge of patterns and trends, and improved event prediction. Organizations and decision-making devices can find new opportunities in the market, minimize costs, improve efficiency, and gain a competitive advantage by extracting valuable information from raw data and identifying patterns. More and more people are wondering how to sift through all the data accessible to find the specific information they need. A new area of study called data science has evolved to deal with these kinds of problems.
The field known as "Data Science" is primarily concerned with studying and processing data to derive useful information and insights that may be used for different types of devices. To create meaningful value from data, data scientists draw from a wide range of disciplines, including statistics, computer science, AI, algorithms, systems, and more. Professionals in this area are highly sought after and seen as having great potential on a global scale. Data scientists use tools like AI, machine learning, and statistical models to glean useful insights and foretell how people will act in the future. Predictions, automated decision-making, data-driven models, or insights presented through visualization are all possible outcomes of data extraction.
It is vital and inevitable to arrange seminars in data science for collaboration in this area for this goal. With this in mind, in 2021 and 2023, the Iranian Statistical Society collaborated with Allameh Tabataba'i University and Ghiaseddin Jamshid Kashani University to host two specialized seminars on data science and its applications.
The third specialized seminar on data science and its applications will be hosted by the Statistics Group of the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad on December 11th and 12th, 2024. The purpose of the event is to give a platform for academics, researchers, and experts in the field to share their work, network, and promote statistical culture in society. A mere droplet in this enormous ocean of knowledge is what this lecture intends to investigate. This seminar's outcomes will help advance cutting-edge scientific knowledge and technological capabilities.
Join us for the Third Seminar on Data Science and its Applications! We invite all researchers, specialists, and enthusiasts in the field to share their newest research in the following areas:
Data Science in Financial and Monetary Field
